An ‘Azerbaijani town’ has appeared today in Paris near the Louvre. It was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in order to popularize Azerbaijani culture, traditions and history. The town of ‘Azerbaijan in the heart of Paris’ is to be held until September 9th.
The town consists of several ‘districts’, each of which is surrounded by walls of dummies of the Baku fortress. At the present time there are exhibitions of carpets, pottery and other folk arts of Azerbaijan, as well as national costumes and musical instruments. At the same time, visitors can see the work of craftsmen. There is a special section for the ‘Workshop’, which produces copper tableware, shebeke, carpets and other traditional items.
Also, guests can enjoy booths with ethnic cooking, wines, fruit juices, sweets and dried fruits. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation prepared and printed materials about the story of tourism in Azerbaijan, its culture and history.
According to AzerTAj, visitors are delighted with ‘the Azerbaijani town’ and expressed a desire to visit the republic themselves in order to see its beauty with their own eyes.
The exhibition "The Azerbaijanis and the French. History and Introduction’ was also opened, which shows pictures of Azerbaijani artists living in France, as well as French artists living in Azerbaijan. The area of the Palais Royale has been equipped with a concert stage, where Azerbaijani music will be played until the closing.
At the same time the Mayor’s office of Paris City Hall opened an exhibition of Reza Degati "Azerbaijan is a Land of Tolerance."
‘The Azerbaijani town’ opened its doors a year ago on Saint-Sulpice Square and piqued interest among Parisians, after which the Heydar Aliyev Foundation decided to organize ‘Azerbaijan is the Heart of Paris' this year.
