The Georgian government has increased funding of infrastructure projects by 20% in 2019, which is the 'highest figure' in the history of independent Georgia, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said during the presentation of a six-month report on regional projects.

"The Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure has invested 200 million GEL ($69 million) more in the Georgian infrastructure [in the first half of 2019]. Strong regions means a strong country and regional development is our priority," Bakhtadze said

He vowed that by 2022 Georgia will have "very  modern infrastructure," which will allow the government to further develop the economy and overcome poverty, Agenda.ge reported.

The Georgian PM also said that the 2019 plans for the infrastructural development is "more ambitious" than ever.
