Baku: European Parliament resolution on Karabakh based on disinformation

Yesterday's resolution of the European Parliament accuses Azerbaijan of destroying historical monuments in the territory of Karabakh and is built on disinformation. Baku will not be silent about anti-Azerbaijani fakes, assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev said on the sidelines of the Antalya Dimlomacy forum.

He reminded that the disinformation campaign was the basis of the information war of Armenia against Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War. "Armenia claimed that there were mercenaries in Azerbaijan. When we asked for proof, they could not provide it", Hikmet Hajiyev said.

After the war, not only have not the disinformation campaigns stopped, but they have also intensified, now one of its directions is the creation of fakes about the processes taking place in the liberated lands. "Fake news is found not only in the media, but also in politics. The resolution adopted yesterday by the European Parliament is also based on disinformation," the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan said.

"We must fight false information by providing reliable news as quickly as possible. Not reacting is not an option", Hikmet Hajiyev stressed.
