 Baku hosting 6th International Humanitarian Forum

The 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum has kicked off today at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Held under the slogan 'Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development', the forum brings together 581 delegates from 86 countries and 24 international organizations. The forum, initiated by the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan in 2010, will be held on October 25-26.

The official opening ceremony of the forum is attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in the appeal to the forum participants, read out by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets at the official opening ceremony of the forum, the slogan 'Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development' of the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum is very significant for modern society.

The Russian leader emphasized the importance of the planned in-depth discussions on topical issues related to the improvement of existing education system, support of culture and art, information security and protection of intellectual property.

President Putin expressed confidence that the forum participants will exchange professional experience and advanced practical developments, as well as outline new promising forms and areas of mutually beneficial international cooperation.

In conclusion, the Russian president wished success and all the very best to the forum participants.

The Baku International Humanitarian Forum is an annual platform for famous representatives of political, scientific and cultural elite of the world, including statesmen, Nobel Prize winners in various fields of science and leaders of influential international organizations to hold dialogues, discussions and exchange of views on a wide range of global issues.

The 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum will focus on identifying and seeking to release creative ideas and energies that can both shape tomorrow’s world as well as respond to it. 

The main topic of the forum should be perceived as support for the human capital development policy of Azerbaijan. The forum's topic will allow demonstrating at the national and international level the country's model and strategy for turning economic development into human capital.

The main goal set by representatives of the world cultural elite, being the organizers and participants of the forum, is to shape a new humanitarian agenda in the fields of natural, social and human sciences with a goal of considering it in the future at international level.

Within two days, officials, representatives of international organizations, as well as specialists in the above-mentioned areas will consider ways to address actual issues of concern to humanity.

Following the opening speeches, the forum will feature plenary and breakout sessions.

The forum will be attended by two deputy secretaries-general of the UN, deputy heads of organizations such as ISESCO, IRCICA, TurkPA, TURKSOY, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), the International Turkic Academy (TWESCO), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the UN Economic and Social Council ( ECOSOC), UNESCO, Executive Committee of the CIS. The event will also be attended by the Vice-President of Sudan, the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia and Slovakia, the chairmen and deputy chairmen of Slovenia, Uruguay, Russia, Egypt, Belarus, Italy and Estonia, the ministers and deputy ministers of Georgia, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sudan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Afghanistan, the Philippines and Bulgaria, ombudsmen from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as more than 40 MPs from 15 countries, heads of diplomatic missions of 46 countries, heads of companies, scientists and experts.

A varied cultural program will be presented to organize leisure activities for participants in the framework of the International Humanitarian Forum, and guests' walks will be organized to explore the sights of Baku.
