The International Mugham Center in Baku is to host the opening ceremony of the World Chess Cup today, which is to come to an end on October 4th.
Elman Rustamov, the head of the Chess Federation of Azerbaijan, made a statement that events of this level are a great honor for the capital of Azerbaijan.
He recalled that the decision to hold the World Cup in Baku was made in 2013 in Istanbul at a meeting of FIDE. "It is a great honor for us. I express my gratitude to Kirsan Ilyumzhinov for it,’’ Vestnik Kavkaza cites Rustamov as saying.
