In March of this year, Yuri Sarkisov was met in Baku as a dear guest. He was helped to find the grave of his mother, was settled in a guesthouse, accompanied, treated and invited to come again. Two years ago this would have been impossible.

Yuri Sarkisov was born in Baku 73 years ago, his father was Armenian, mother was Russian. His father left the family even before Yuri's first birthday, leaving him only an Armenian surname. After the death of his mother, he lived in Baku for another three years, then moved to Moscow. The last time he came to Baku in 1984. After the events of the mid-1980s, they wouldn't let Sarkisov enter the country.

In an interview with the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper he said that he wrote letters to various authorities, but there was no answer. Two months ago, Yuri Sarkisov sent a letter to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow addressed to Ambassador Polad Bulbul oglu.

"Very soon I was contacted by the representative of the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow. They booked me flights to Baku and back at the embassy ticket office, I was accompanied by an embassy official. from March 23 to 26 I felt like a long-awaited guest - the Baku police and the cemetery director were looking for my mother's grave with me, which took 5 hours" Yuri Sarkisov said.

According to Yuri Sarkisov, you can't even recognize Baku anymore. The city is super modern, beautiful. "But I saw Baku of my youth in people, where everyone has a friendly attitude towards each other," he added.

"I want to thank the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbul oglu and its staff for this opportunity, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan for assistance on the spot," he said.
