Binali Yildirim: Russia and Turkey understand each other better than ever before

Russia and Turkey have a common approach to resolution of crisis in Syria, the understanding on the issue of the two countries has never been better, the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said following his visit to Moscow, where he held the meetings with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

"Indubitably, at this stage we understand each other better than ever before. We have a common approach in working out the resolution to the crisis in Syria," Yildirim stressed.

According to him, there is an issue of withdrawal of militants from the eastern Aleppo. "Turkey is working on this issue right now. From the very beginning, our efforts have been aimed at withdrawal of terrorist groups from Aleppo," the Turkish PM pointed out.

"It is important to clearly distinguish between those who is fighting for the liberation of their country and those who are members of recognized terrorist groups. Our joint goal is fighting terrorist groups," he concluded.

Binali Yildirim said that Turkey acts as a mediator between the Syrian opposition and Russia. “Work in this direction is ongoing, of course. It is necessary to concentrate here on working out a decision and overcoming the crisis. Turkey has made a very serious contribution and intends to continue it in the future to put an end to bloodshed in Syria,” Sputnik cited him as saying.

Yildirim also noted that the Central banks of Turkey and Russia have begun work on technical aspects of using national currencies in bilateral trade. "The central banks have already begun to work on the issue of how this can be implemented, and some technical issues need to be work out to make it happen. Everyone, both Turkey and Russia, is positive about this prospect," Yildirim said.
