Bishkek imposed restrictions on the Nooruz holiday celebrations, the mayor's office reported.
As of March 18, the total number of confirmed coronavirus and pneumonia cases in Bishkek reached 2,551 since January, officials said.
Due to new coronavirus variants spreading in European countries and re-introduction of quarantine measures in neighboring countries, as well as overall unfavorable epidemiological situation, the authorities decided to hold on with holding mass events dedicated to Nooruz in Bishkek.
A 1.5-fold increase in the number of children developing symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections was registered by family practice centers of the city, authorities said.
Local authorities were therefore given orders to control following anti-epidemic rules, AKIpress reported.
