Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held talks on the sidelines of the 30th Arab League summit in Tunis, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The sides discussed a dramatic aggravation of the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as unilateral U.S. steps on the Golan and Jerusalem.
"The confidential conversation, also attended by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, was focused on a sharp aggravation of the situation in the Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, as well as on U.S. unilateral steps on Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, which grossly violate the well-known international law the basis of the Arab-Israeli settlement, including the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council," the statement says.
