Borjomi mineral company, striking workers reach agreement

Borjomi mineral water company in central Georgia and about 350 workers who went on strike on May 18 demanding higher salaries and better working conditions have finally reached the agreement, announce that the strike is over.

The agreement was signed by the Director of IDS Borjomi Georgia, Merab Akhmeteli, President of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation Irakli Petriashvili and Chairman of the Trade Union of Employees in Agriculture, Trade and Industry Giorgi Diasamidze.

Per the agreement Borjomi will increase the salary of the workers by 20%-30% and will pay for overtime work, Agenda.ge reported.

The same agreement stated that the company would not apply repressive measures against the striking employees and would retain all existing social projects.

Akhmeteli, who was appointed as the Director of Borjomi Georgia on May 25 said that the bottling factories at Borjomi mineral water plants, which were closed due to the demonstrations, will continue operations tomorrow.
