An anti-coronavirus vaccine has been administered to 14 Russian children aged between 9 and 11 years as part of clinical trials, Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg has told TASS.

"For today, 14 children between 9 and 11 years old have been vaccinated with one tenth of the adult dose. No significant side effects have been registered," he said.

According to the official, a group of independent experts is to convene on Wednesday in order to issue a recommendation for trials on children aged between 6 and 9.

"Overall, 100 children are taking part in the trials: 50 of them are to be vaccinated with 1/10 of the [adult] dose and 50 - with 1/5," he said.

On January 24, the Russian Health Ministry approved clinical trials of an anti-coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Center on children between six and eleven years old. Earlier, Gintsburg said the trials might take up to three and a half months.
