CPC resumes oil loading from one of two damaged SPMs

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) resumed operation of SPM (single point mooring) 3 at the sea terminal near Novorossiysk after its repair.

"The day before, SPM-3 was put into operation at the CPC marine terminal. Diving operations and the terminal underwater pipeline manifold opening were carried out due to a short-term improvement in weather conditions. This made it possible to resume oil transshipment at the specified TLU", the company said, TASS reports.

As for SPM-2, it still remains decommissioned due to damage received at the end of March. SPM-1 is functioning normally.

Previously, the specialists of the contractor and CPC had carried out washing of the single point mooring with the help of a tanker, replacement of the damaged floating hosepipes, Besides, the specialists also successfully carried out measures for pressure testing and checking the serviceability of all SPM systems. At present, the tanker Delta Commander is moored to SPM-3, loading is in progress.

Let us remind you that on March 21 and 22, 2022, after a period of adverse weather conditions, SPM-3 was damaged in the form of one of the floating hosepipe's power frame displacement. Early detection of malfunctions and decommissioning of equipment made it possible to eliminate the possibility of an accidental oil spill into the Black Sea.

The situation in the area of the CPC Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk  was also monitored by specialists from the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources. No oil spill was reported.

The CPC pipeline is close to operating at full capacity, and SPM-2 was supposed to start operating on April 22, Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, said earlier.
