Chaos in Iran prevented by Turks

The riots caused by the rising prices in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) came to naught, and the attempt of the anti-government insurgency was failed, despite the hopes of the US allies. On the eve of the New 2018, the riots appeared to be a complete surprise for the Iranian authorities.

Formally, the reason for people to take to the streets was the unrestrained growth of the consumer prices, but the economic demands suddenly began to take on a political character: people who participated in the demonstration on December 28, 2017, tried to seize the military and police facilities.

The situation was escalated to the limit on January 2, when, according to the Iranian Interior Ministry, about 42,000 people took part in the protests in large cities of Iran - such as Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, and Resht. Recognizing that protests are an inalienable right of people, and the demands of citizens are largely justified, the Iranian leadership blamed the United States and its allies - Saudi Arabia and Israel- for the attempts to destabilize the situation in the country. It was forced to suppress demonstrations - near 450 people were detained.

Analytics were watching closely how the provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, inhabited by ethnic Azerbaijanians would behave in this situation since if the protests were supported by 40% of the country's population, the power in Tehran would not stand. However, despite the fact that the standard of living in the country's provinces inhabited by Azerbaijanis is usually lower, and social problems, including unemployment, are sharper, Iranian Azerbaijanis did not succumb to the pro-Western agitation, realizing that the rebels, the most of whom are secular nationalists, will be even more severe turkophobes.

A decisive role in establishing peace in Iran was played by the Turkic states - Turkey and Azerbaijan - as well as by the law-abiding Iranian Azerbaijanis. The Iranian leadership has to make the reciprocal step.
