The acting head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov congratulated the citizens of the republic on the holiday. "I congratulate you on the Day of Peace! The counterterrorist operation regime was cancelled on the territory of the Republic by the order of the President of the Russian Federation on April 16th 2009. This day became for us a truly national and bright holiday!’’ He said.

Recall that the First Chechen War was fought from 1994 to 1996, and the CTO regime was introduced in Chechnya from 1999 to 2009. The CTO regime was cancelled by the order of the President of the Russian Federation on April 16th 2009. This date became the Day of Peace and the holiday in the Republic by the decree of the head of the Chechen Republic.
