The construction of the Istanbul Canal, which will bypass the Bosphorus, will begin at the end of June, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
”By the end of June, we will lay the first stone of the Istanbul Canal. Of course, there are people who are concerned. But they will not stop us," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
The head of state expressed confidence that the implementation of the new project will increase the strategic importance of Istanbul.
