A suspension bridge across the Agsuchay River is being built in Azerbaijan. It will become the longest suspension bridge in the country.
The construction is underway on the Muganly-Ismayilli-Gabala highway, Anar Najafli, spokesman for the State Agency Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, said. The length of the bridge will be 1135 meters.
He noted that the work was complicated by the need to carry out anti-landslide measures and to build drainage systems. Special attention is paid to the first 14 km of the road. There is a difficult terrain, geological and hydrogeological research is necessary.
The State Agency added that there is a tunnel on the road behind the suspension bridge, and work is also underway at the entrance to it.
The large-scale reconstruction of the Muganly-Ismayilli-Gabala road will shorten the route by almost 10 km, the road will be expanded from two to four lanes.
