Daesh leader for natural resources killed in Iraq

Senior Daesh member responsible for natural resources Sami Jassim Mohammad Al Jabouri, also known as Haji Hamad, has been killed near the Iraqi town of Qaim, Kurdistan Region Security Council said.

The operation, which also killed Haji Hamad’s aide, took place "in the early hours" on Thursday, according to the council.

A Pentagon spokesman said coalition forces conducted a combined operation against Daesh "associated target" in Iraq on Aug. 11 but were assessing the results of the operation.

"The mission was coordinated with and approved by the Government of Iraq and conducted in partnership with Iraqi Security Forces," a Pentagon spokesman, Adrian Rankine-Galloway, said.
