Daesh suffers more setbacks as the Syrian Army advances on Palmyra

Daesh setbacks continued on Friday, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah advanced further east towards the ancient city of Palmyra, Al-Masdar reports.

Led by their 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Al-Kalaabiyah Farms in the western groves of Al-Bayarat, resulting in a series of intense clashes that lasted for much of the morning on Friday.

With help from the Russian and Syrian air forces, the 5th Legion and their allies managed to impose full control over the Al-Kalaabiyah Farms; thus, reasserting complete control over the western groves of Al-Bayarat for the second time in the last 48 hours.

While the Daesh forces have recaptured some points near the Hayyan Gas Fields, the Syrian Arab Army is still very much on the offensive, advancing from two different axes in the western countryside of Palmyra.
