Kazakh Senator Dariga Nazarbayeva cautioned against overzealous practices, when meeting the targets set by the president, in effort to expand the use of the Kazakh language in the government and parliament.
She also noted that the Russian language was not banned, RIA Novosti reported.
Nazarbayev issued the decree on the switch of the Kazakh language from Cyrillic to the Latin-based alphabet consisting of 32 letters on October 26, 2017. The change is expected to be fully effective by 2025.
