The council of the lower chamber of the Tajik Parliament has prepared a draft resolution on holding the national referendum on Constitutional amendments on May 22.
The date of referendum will be officially announced tomorrow at a regular session of the lower house of parliament, RIA Novosti cited a source in the parliament as saying.
On 22 January the lower house of the Tajik parliament unanimously endorsed the amendments to the Constitution, which give the right to incumbent head of state Emomali Rahmon to be elected an unlimited number of times. The Constitutional Court approved the changes on February 4.
In addition, amendments will be made to the article on the creation of political parties.
