David Sergeenko elected to WHO’s executive board

Georgia’s Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs David Sergeenko has been elected as a new member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

For the next three years Georgia’s David Sergeenko will be the Executive Board’s representative for the European Region.

Sergeenko stressed the importance of the General Healthcare Program provided by the current Government of Georgia and the Hepatitis C Elimination Program.

He noted it had been more than a year since the Hepatitis C Elimination Program was launched, and in that time more than 15,000 patients had received free treatment, Agenda.ge reports.

The WHO Executive Board is composed of 34 technically qualified members who provide agendas for World Health Assemblies and send resolutions to the Health Assembly.
