The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, in an interview with the Swiss newspaper ‘Le Temps’ said that the parliamentary elections scheduled by Syrian President Bashar Assad on April 13th will have no effect.
"For me the only elections that will be taken into account will be elections on the basis of the UN Security Council decisions, even if tomorrow or the day after the elections are held, then there will be new ones and this time under the UN supervision, and they will determine not only the composition of the parliament, but the future of the Syrian president," he said, TASS reports.
