Death rate in Russia fell by 14%

‘‘Since 2006, the mortality rate in Russia has fallen by 14%,’’ said Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova, speaking at the UN conference on non-communicable diseases.

"Measures against non-communicable diseases is a priority for the Russian Federation both in domestic politics and at the global level,’’ Interfax cites her.

"Thanks to comprehensive state measures the overall mortality in the country decreased 14% from what it was 10 years ago, the death-rate from non-communicable diseases fell by 17%, and the rate among people of working age by 25%,’’ the head of the Ministry of Health added.
