Today, Russian gymnast Dmitry Ushakov became the champion of the Trampolining World Cup, held in Baku for the first time, by gaining 61.345 points in the finals of the individual program.
Second place, as the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports, was taken by the Belarusian gymnast on trampoline Vladislav Goncharov, with 59.7 points. Bronze went to Portugal thanks to the performance of Diego Concini with 58.995 points.
After his performances, Dmitry Ushakov admitted that he is very pleased with the medals. "Everything was great today, and I am absolutely satisfied with the result. Much in the synchronized program didn't work, our performance was not the best, but we were still able to win. In the individual competition, I am fully pleased with today's combination – this is the first time I performed it in an international competition, and I'm glad that it worked out," he said.
"There was a feeling that everything would be okay, I was in a good mood for the entire competition. Memories of how everything went in Baku last year, at the first European Games, were especially helpful. Athletes are quite superstitious people, and I believe that Baku is a lucky city for me. We are greeted very warmly here," Ushakov added.
He also praised the level of organization of the World Cup. "The organization is at the highest level thanks to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation and its president. Everything is great: transportation, schedules, broadcasting. Everyone liked everything," the Russian gymnast, champion of the World in Baku concluded.
