The European Union continues to consider the Russian banking and energy sectors for the possibility of imposing sanctions, said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in an interview with the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.
"We continue to consider the banking sector, especially Sberbank, which accounts for 37% of the Russian banking sector. And of course, we are talking about energy issues", the head of the EC said.
According to her, now the EU is "developing smart mechanisms" that will allow oil to be affected in the next phase of anti-Russian sanctions.
