EEU Prime Ministers to meet in Saint Petersburg

Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his colleagues will gather in Saint Petersburg to take part in Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting.

The Russian government's press service said earlier that "on July 26 -27, a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will take place in St Petersburg, with the participation of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan."

"The meeting will focus on issues of digital development among the Eurasian Economic Union member states, interaction in energy and transport, industrial and customs cooperation, and improving the Eurasian Economic Union’s regulatory and legal framework," the press service added.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page that he will also attend a session of the EEU intergovernmental council.

According to the Armenian PM, after constitutional reforms in Armenia, the country’s prime minister is included in the supreme economic council of the Eurasian Economic Union, which holds its meetings at the level of country leaders.

"The legal regulation of the work of the union’s intergovernmental council is not brought in tune with the constitutional changes implemented in Armenia, and in the event of my absence from the session, the council members will be not able to make decisions, and the council will be paralyzed," Pashinyan said.
