Consistently high levels of competitions in gymnastics in Azerbaijan is the result of a confident and professional work of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) and its leadership, the sports officials of European gymnastics federations told Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the today's republic championships in acrobatics and trampoline.
The Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, is the President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Altay Hasanov is its Vice President, and the Vice-President of the European Gymnastics Union, Farid Gaibov is its Secretary General.
The head of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee of the European Gymnastics Union, Heide Bruneder, stressed that Azerbaijan constantly holds gymnastics competition at the highest level. "I have visited Azerbaijan for many years, trying to come to every competition, because it's a fantastic – the development of the country as a whole, and of the Azerbaijani gymnastics, not even mentioning the people's kindness. Even after the First European Games a tremendous development was shown, which makes Azerbaijan a real example for other countries," she said.
The AGF and its leadership play the most important role in this. "These are wonderful, professional people, who conduct national championships with the same accuracy and at the same level as the European championship. Azerbaijan is making a huge contribution to the development of gymnastics," Heide Bruneder concluded.
She cited as an example the national championship in acrobatics and trampoline.
Administrative Director of the European Gymnastics Union, Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman, is also impressed by the work of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. "There was a great atmosphere at the competitions, and the organization was at the highest level," she said.
Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman said that the high level of holding tournaments has become a hallmark of AGF a long time ago. "The Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation participants are professionals in the organization of not only national, but also international tournaments, including the First European Games. I never doubt that they will cope, because every time AGF provides excellent organization of the competitions. This makes Azerbaijan one of the leaders in gymnastics development. There are great sport centers, a support from both the government and the people, while the leadership of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation is a role model for others," the administrative Director of the European Gymnastics Union believes.
