The heated passions around the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) may be costly for Armenian football: the UEFA may suspend it, the Zhoghovurd newspaper writes.
"The heated passions around the Football Federation of Armenia do not stop in any way. First, a criminal case was initiated on suspicion of embezzlement of construction work during the days of former FFA president Ruben Hayrapetyan. In addition, the power structures are now interested in the construction work a year ago and financed by the FFA, which was overseen by FFA vice presidents Armen Melikbekyan, or Armen Nikoghosyan," News.am cited the newspaper as saying.
Since the election of the FFA President and Executive Committee was very politicized, since what happens around the FFA is regularly reported to UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, it is not ruled out that the FFA will be suspended for two or more years due to politicization, the newspaper added.
Vestnik Kavkaza earlier reported that the European Commission has put the Armenian Civil Aviation Committee under heightened scrutiny because of signs of a decrease in safety oversight. Armenian airline Taron-Avia recently suspended operations due to financial insolvency.
