Earthquake hits Stavropol resorts

A 4.6-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Stavropol Territory. Tremors were felt by residents of Mineralnye Vody, Essentuki, Kislovodsk, Stavropol and Georgievsk.

An earthquake hit the Stavropol Territory. The magnitude of the seismic event was 4.6. Tremors were felt by guests and residents of Mineralnye Vody, Essentuki, Kislovodsk, Stavropol and Georgievsk. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 99 km northeast of Pyatigorsk. There are no casualties or destruction.

“In Stavropol Territory, Predgorny Municipal District, a seismic event of magnitude 4.6 was recorded at a depth of 15 km, tremors were felt in the Sovetsky urban district, Georgievsk urban district, Zheleznovodsk, Pyatigorsk and Kislovodsk,”

- the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations informs.

The heads of cities and municipalities reacted to the seismic event.

According to mayor of Pyatigorsk Dmitry Voroshilov, the territorial services were instructed to conduct a visual survey of the city.

“If there is damage, please contact the common emergency number - 112,”

- the mayor called.

Head of the Predgorny Okrug Nikolay Bondarenko, having informed about the earthquake, noted that Predgotye was the closest to the epicenter.

“I instructed the emergency services to conduct a visual inspection of the district’s life support systems,”

– the head of the district wrote.

According to the head of Zheleznovodsk, Yevgeny Bakulin, the longest tremors lasted more than 5 seconds and were located in the Kapelnitsa area.
