Today Egypt is hosting the first session of its parliament since 2012. Elections to the new Legislative Assembly took place in October-November last year.
In early December the electoral commission of Egypt published data according to which independent candidates received 316 seats, deputies from parties – 239. Most of the seats went to the pro-presidential secular bloc 'With Love to Egypt' – 120 seats according to party lists.
Salafis from the party 'Al-Nour', considered to be second in popularity, only got 12 seats, RIA Novosti reported.
