The number of elderly people in Russia is expected peak at 43.7 million in 2030, accounting for almost 29 percent of the total population, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said.
According to her, the non-working age population in Russia will reach 40.8 million by 2024, and 43.7 million by 2030.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the new long-term care system will increase the life expectancy of the elderly and disabled.
"We expect that from 2022, long-term care will be extended not only in the pilot regions, but throughout the entire territory of the Russian Federation. By 2024, 60% of citizens in need will be covered by this system," Golikova stressed. By 2030, all Russians in need of such care will be provided with it.
