Erdoğan becomes Turkish official presidential candidate

The People's Alliance nominated the current head of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as a presidential candidate.

A corresponding application was submitted to the Supreme Election Council by the parties that are members of the "People's Alliance".

The final list of presidential candidates will be published on March 31, at the same time the election campaign will begin. Elections will be held on May 14, the second round of elections is scheduled for May 28.

The main rival of the current Turkish leader in the election race will be a single opposition candidate, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

The main candidates will compete with politicians Muharrem İnce, nominated from the Memleket party, and Sinan Ogan from the ATA Alliance.
