French President Emmanuel Macron called for an end to the war in Gaza and the return of hostages in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In phone call with the Israeli PM Netanyahu, the French leader called for the end to the war in Gaza, his office said in a statement.
“The ordeal of the Palestinians in Gaza must end,” Macron said, according to a readout from the Élysée Palace.
Macron also expressed his support for U.S. President Joe Biden’s ceasefire plan and called for massive delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
On the escalating tension between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Israeli forces, the French president expressed concern and urged maximum restraint.
