European deputies hurry to Crimea

The Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksenov, has said that MPs from Germany and Italy have expressed their desire to arrive in Crimea as the French MPs did.

"A desire to visit Crimea was expressed by deputies of Germany after the arrival of the French and Italian deputies. I am sure that in the near future, not only Italian, but also a lot of other delegations will arrive in Crimea before the end of the year," Aksenov said.

The Head of the Republic noted that Crimea is visited by politicians who respect the position of Russia in the international arena. He added that such visits help to dispel myths about the dangers of the peninsula’s life, as well as its investment.

"Everyone who was able to visit, including former Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Hatoyama, could be sure of a safe life here and absence of significant problems,’’ the head of the republic said.

"In spite of the objective difficulties, people are in good spirits, no one is disappointed after the results of the referendum which took place last year. The majority of citizens expressed their desire and Crimea became a part of the Russian Federation,’’ Sergey Aksenov said.

In July Crimea was visited by a delegation from France headed by MP Thierry Mariani, as well as members of the National Assembly Jacques Myard and Nicolas Dyuik participating in the committee on national defense and foreign affairs, deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Senate Yves Pozzo di Borgo and six parliamentarians.

"It is said that the Crimeans had no legal right to hold a referendum. Of course, they had! Why not? This is what saved the region from war," Claude Goasgen shared his impressions of the trip.

The politician also noted that now there is peace in the region and there are no signs of instability. "It is time to recognize that Crimea is a region with peaceful life, even if the United States wants war to break out there," Goasgen added.

A Polish deputy of the eighth convocation Janusz Korwin-Mikke approved the actions of his French counterparts, and also expressed the desire to visit Crimea.

"I believe that the visit of the French parliamentarians to Crimea was the right step, because it recognizes the current legal status of Crimea. It shows that the peninsula has really become a part of the Russian Federation. I am for such a trip, but unfortunately I am not available until October 25th, in connection with my election campaign,’’ he said in an interview with Izvestiya.

Earlier it was reported that an Italian MP of the Five Stars movement, Manlio di Stefano, suggested to his colleagues that they visit Crimea. According to him, the delegation will consist of eight to ten people. It will be headed by a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alessandro Di Battista. A senator from the Italian party Lega Nord, Sergio Divina, also expressed his readiness to join the trip.
