Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will not run for the presidency of the Islamic Republic.
In an interview with the Iranian media ILNA, the ex-minister denied all assumptions regarding his participation in the early presidential elections.
When will the elections be held?
Iran will hold extraordinary presidential elections on June 28. Registration of candidates starts next Thursday, and the final list of participants will be announced on June 11.
Let us remind you that on May 19, a helicopter carrying an Iranian delegation, which was returning home after negotiations with Azerbaijani officials, crashed. As a result of the incident, President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and seven other people were killed.
