Ferry line from Crimea to Turkey to be opened again

Ferry line from Crimea to Turkey to be opened again

The ferry line will connect several ports on the  Crimean peninsula to Turkey across the Black Sea, CEO of Crimean Sea Ports Alexey Volkov said, adding that the company is expecting to launch the sea connection by fall.

"The negotiations with the freight forwarder have been held. The ports that will be part of the future ferry line will be announced later," Sputnik cited Volkov as saying.

He added that the ferry will be used for cargo this year, and passenger traffic will begin in 2019. According to the CEO, the Crimean peninsula will deliver meat to Turkey, while the latter will ship fruits and vegetables.

Turkey has changed its attitude towards Crimea several times. In October 2017, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a decree banning all shipments from Crimea, saying that he supported Ukraine’s claim to the peninsula.
