First Turkish Stream line to start operating in 2019

First Turkish Stream line to start operating in 2019

The first line of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline should start delivering Russian gas to Turkey before the end of 2019, Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said.

"Deliveries will begin before the end of 2019. The exact date depends not only on the offshore section but on whether the Turkish gas distribution system is ready. But it'll definitely be 2019, there's no doubt about that," Interfax cited Medvedev as saying.

Commenting on Bulgaria's desire to accept a second Turkish Stream line directly, bypassing Turkey itself, he said that "reflected Bulgaria's regret over the cancellation of the South Stream project."

Gazprom Deputy CEO added that the issue was raised "very soon after an inter-governmental protocol with Turkey on the onshore section of the second line, where each party undertook a certain commitment."
