Seven official and ten commercial agreements were signed in Rome during the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

"The first agreements were signed, but this is just the beginning," Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said. "There are sectors in which we can and must work together," he added.

Among the major economic agreements reached during the first visit of Rouhani after the lifting of sanctions against Tehran, an agreement was signed between the Italian company Saipem and Iranian oil and gas companies worth a total of $5 billion.

The Italian group Danieli signed deals worth a total of about 5.7 billion euros on the delivery and installation of equipment for the steel industry in Iran.

The Italian company Itinera signed a series of agreements with Iranian companies worth a total of about 4 billion euros on the joint implementation of a number of major infrastructure projects in Iran.

An agreement between the Ministries of Transport of the two countries was also signed, RIA Novosti reports.
