The Tretyakov Gallery for the first time in the history of this famous museum will host an exhibition of works by the world famous painter, People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Tahir Salahov.
It will be titled ‘The Sun at its Zenith’ and it is timed to coincide with the 160th anniversary of the gallery.
The exhibition will consist of paintings by the artist from the collection of both the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, the Rustam Mustafayev National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani National Art Gallery, the House-Museum of Tahir Salahov in Baku and private collections.
Tahir Salahov is one of the founders of the so-called ‘severe style’. His paintings are characterized by the glorification of labor, monumental, generalized form. The characters of the canvases are true heroes of their eras. Many of them are brave people, which is emphasized, strong-willed, assembled and ready to cope with the challenges they face.
The exposition will show visitors of the gallery almost six decades of the master’s change and the evolution of his vibrant and expressive style.
The exhibition will run from January 22nd to March 20th.
