First woman sworn in as Armenia's Prosecutor General

Armenia's newly elected Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan took the oath and officially took office at today's session of the parliament.

She was nominated to the post by the ruling Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Previously she served as assistant to the Prime Minister. She was elected by a unanimous vote of 70 in favor.

Anna Vardapetyan was born in Yerevan in 1986. She graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University. In different years, she worked as Advisor to the Chairman of the Court of Cassation, Advisor to the Minister of Justice, and Deputy Minister of Justice. Since March 2020 she has been assistant to the Prime Minister of Armenia.

She has replaced Artur Davtyan, whose term in office ended in September 1, 2022.
