Former Prime Minister of Georgia and the Chair of the opposition For Georgia party Giorgi Gakharia signed a charter promoted by Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili for uniting opposition parties ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26.
Gakharia signed the charter in the Presidential palace on Monday morning, the Presidential Administration said.
Proposed by Zourabichvili late May, the document calls for abolishing “laws harmful to the European path” of the country, “liberating the judiciary” and “restoring trust”, ensuring a “fundamental reform” of the Supreme Council of Justice and creating “appropriate conditions for holding free and fair elections”.
