Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius. It is known that the focus of the conversation was the preparation for inter-Syrian talks, scheduled to start on January 29th. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the telephone conversation was initiated by the French side.
"During the conversation the ministers discussed topical aspects of the preparation of negotiations between representatives of government of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Syrian opposition under the auspices of the United Nations in accordance with resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council, scheduled for January 29th of this year in Geneva," RIA Novosti cites the text of the official message.
