France has launched an investigation into war crimes by the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The France-Presse news agency reported that an inquiry was opened into war crimes committed between 2011 and 2013 on September 15th
The investigation is focusing on evidence from a former Syrian army photographer 'Caesar', who fled the country in 2013, bringing with him 55,000 photographs of tortured bodies, TASS reports.
