Russia’s energy giant Gazprom has laid over 700 kilometers of pipes for the Turkish Stream gas pipeline's offshore section, the company's Chief Executive Officer Alexei Miller said.
"To date, more than 700 km, or about 38% of the pipeline's offshore section, have been laid," Miller said, RIA Novosti cited Miller as saying.
Gazprom's work to lay the gas pipeline across the Black Sea started on May 7, 2017. The Turkish Stream gas pipeline stipulates laying two stretches with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters a year each. The two pipes will be laid in parallel along the seabed of the Black Sea. One stretch is intended for natural gas deliveries to Turkish consumers and the other will supply Russian natural gas to South and Southeast Europe.
Gazprom plans to complete the construction of the first stretch in March 2018, and of the second stretch - in 2019.
