Gazprom plans to bring Italians back to construction of 'Turkish Stream'

Gazprom plans to restore cooperation with the Italian company Saipem, which is a subsidiary company of the Eni group. Recently, Alexey Miller held a meeting with Eni director Claudio Descalzi, where he announced these plans.

"The success of pipeline projects such as 'North Stream' and 'Blue Stream' is largely based on the high quality of interaction between project partners and contractors such as Saipem. We appreciate the cooperation prospects with Saipem on current and future projects," the head of Gazprom stated.

Experts believe that, after the signing of an agreement with the Turkish government, the  Italian side can already proceed to laying pipes under the Black Sea. At the same time, despite the departure of pipe-laying vessels of Saipem, the company was not interested in a final rupture of relations with Gazprom, because then it may be deprived of other Russian contracts in the future, the BBC reports.
