Georgia suffers losses due to new tariffs for the transit of Russian gas, the chairman of the United National Movement party, Roman Gotsiridze, said.
According to the agreement with Gazprom, Georgia suffered 66 million lari in losses per year, since the length of the North-South pipeline in the territory of Georgia is 221 km, and the volume of transit gas per year is 2 billion cubic meters, which makes $13.3 million ($3 for every missed 1 thousand cubic meters of gas per 100 km).
"Georgia had 200 million cubic meters of gas for transit, the cost of which is almost $40 million. Because of the shift to cash payments, the country's losses amount to $26.7 million a year," Business-Georgia cited Gotsiridze as saying.
