Georgia receives unique album of XVII century drawings from Ireland

According to the head of the last Giorgi Kalandia, the National Library of Ireland has presented the Georgian Palace of Arts with an album with unique printed copies of unknown graphic drawings about Georgia by Italian missionary and painter Cristoforo de Castelli

Cristoforo de Castelli visited Georgia in 1631 for missionary activity there. He brought not only detailed information about the political system of Western Georgia of the first half of the XVII century, but also a unique album with drawings on the pages, where you can find portraits of the state and church leaders of Georgia and Georgian representatives of all other classes. Many of them are regularly reproduced in modern textbooks and books of the history of the republic.
