David Matikashvili from the ruling Georgian Dream party said that the views of the country's leadership and its residents are identical, as a poll by the Georgian Opinion Research Business International (GORBI) shows.
According to the poll results, 69.8% of respondents believe that the government did the right thing by not joining the economic sanctions against Russia. 27.1% of respondents called the decision wrong, and 3.1% were not sure, Sputnik Georgia reported.
According to the results of the poll, 77.6% of respondents agree with the Georgian Dream's decision not to drag Georgia into the Ukrainian crisis. 20.8% of respondents answered the question in the negative, 1.6% refused to answer.
Most of the respondents (28.5%) said that the largest opposition party, the United National Movement, is most interested in opening a second front in Georgia. Russia and the United States were named by 12.4% of respondents, the government of Ukraine - by 8.6%, the government of Georgia - by 2.1%, and the EU - by 1.2%.
Commissioned by TV Imedi, the survey was conducted GORBI between June 2-7 across Georgia, involving 1,001 respondents.
