Georgia's economy grew by 5% in the first quarter of 2017 in comparison with the same period last year, the National Statistics Service of Georgia said.
Economic growth in March 2015 was 5.3% in comparison with the same period last year, in January - 5.2%, in February - 4.4%.
Nevertheless, the real GDP of the country is still lower than the potential GDP, the National Bank of Georgia said.
Due to an increase in external demand at the beginning of the year, export volumes and tourism revenues are growing. The amount of money transfers have risen substantially in comparison with the last year, although this figure has not yet reached the level of 2014, Sputnik-Georgia reports.
