The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, said that the government is in favor of ending subsidies for the grape harvest, which allows farmers to sell certain varieties of grapes at a price above the market.
"Let's wait for developments, we are in constant contact with producers. You know that every year the grape harvest is a challenge, and we have to intervene. We want to get out of the process, which is called a subsidy, but based on the current situation, this year we won’t do so in order not to leave the farmers alone," Shamugia said.
